TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mayor of Bogor Bima Arya Sugiarto, denied that his administration is mulling to restrict B-registration plate cars from entering Bogor. According to Bima, the public has misinterpreted the plan of the Bogor authorities.

The mayor took to his Twitter account on September 16, 2014 to clarify the issue. Through his Twitter account @BimaAryaS, he said that "B-plated cars are not restricted from entering Bogor" and that Bogor authorities are simply planning to improve the management of public transportation system so that people who visits Bogor can feel comfortable.

Bima also used his Twitter account to address the mis-understanding among netizens. The mayor replied to @shbt_indonesia, who had tweeted that starting from 2015, Jakarta-registered cars will be banned from entering Bogor and Bandung, saying that the information was "misquoted". Bima also responded to another account, @zubayrii who had asked the mayor to confirm the rumours, dismissing it by saying "it isn't true."

The plan to ban Jakarta-registered cars from entering Bogor was first proposed by Usman Hariman, Bogor's deputy mayor. According to Hariman, Bogor authorities are planning to limit the amount of B-plated cars from Jakarta from entering Bogor, in a bid to solve Bogor's traffic jam issues.

The plan is said to come into effect in 2015, after technical details related to the policy have been analysed by Bogor's Development Acceleration Taskforce (TP4), which was formed under Mayor Bima's instructions.
