TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police's anti-terror squad Densus 88 has arrested a suspected terrorist on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in Purworejo regency, Central Java.
"On Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at 4.20 Western Indonesia Time, Densus 88 apprehended an individual with links to terrorist networks who goes by the name of Chandra, also known as Suharto or Arif Suharto in Purworejo, Central Java," said National Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Agus Riyanto in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 17, 2014.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that Chanda is a resident of Pangenrejo district in Purworejo.
"The suspect was apprehended near his home, just when he was about to leave for the market to sell soy milk," said Agus.
According to Agus, the police have been looking for Chandra since 2004 for his alleged role in harboring terrorists. "The suspect is on our wanted list for harbouring Noordin M Top and Dr Azhari," he said.
The suspect has since been placed under police custody at the Purworejo Police Station in Central Java. The police also confiscated one motorcycle with registration number A 2795 KC, which was used by the suspect.
