TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Libyan Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thinni said on Sunday that Qatar had sent three military planes loaded with weapons to Tripoli international airport.
"We confirm that we have official reports that these war planes carried weapons and ammunition," he said. "What does Qatar want to give to the Libyan people?"
As reported by Reuters, the Libyan government has lost control on Tripoli, the state’s capital. The government has been temporarily moved to Tobruk.
Qatar has responded to the accusation. The country has been long suspected of backing the Muslim Brotherhood that has links with Islamic militant groups in Tripoli.
Thinni also accused Sudan of sending weapons to border region in Kufra last month. However, Sudan said those weapons were sent for a joint Libyan-Sudanese border force.
US officials said that the United Arab Emirates and Egypt worried about the spread of radical Islamists in Libya who have seized Tripoli.
Thinni has already issued warned other countries not to intervene in Libya’s internal problems or diplomatic ties will be severed if Qatar, Egypt and other countries keep interfering.
