TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The T.B. Simatupang area in South Jakarta is becoming a magnet for developers who are looking to build office complexes in Jabodetabek. One of the developers who have made their mark on the area, is Intiland Development with the South Quarter complex in Cilandak.
"The area will be a favorite of large scale multinational corporations," said Intiland's President Director Hendro S. Gondokusumo at the building on Monday, September 15, 2014.
According to Hendro, large companies require office spaces with high standards to reflect the business activities and reputation, and a comfortable environment and working space to boost employee productivity. "All those needs are being met by office spaces in the T.B. Simatupang area," said Hendro.
The South Quarter building - whose design is inspired by a rattan weave basket - is located on a 7.2 hectare plot. "In the first phase, three 20-storey office blocks were built on 4.4 hectare plot, adding more than 123,000 square meter of office space in the area," explained Hendro.
The complex, which began construction in 2012, is scheduled by be completed and fully operational by 2015. "For the time being we are focusing on office spaces, but in 2015 we plan to add apartment units too," said Hendro.
Although South Quarter is not exactly finished, as per August 2014, 75 percent of its strata-titled office spaces have been sold. 53 percent of the 12,500 square meter retail space have been leased. "The tenants come from a variety of businesses - oil and gas, retail, banking, and transport, for example." said Hendro.
