TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta deputy governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama claimed he did not have personal issues with Jakarta Legislative Council’s temporary deputy speaker Abraham “Lulung” Lunggana. He even said Lulung that is one of his close friends.
“He is a close friend of mine. He is my ‘sparring partner’,” said Ahok at Lebaran Betawi festival in the National Monument, Sunday, September 14. Ahok and Lulung looked close at the festival. Lulung, who came later, was welcomed by Ahok warmly by kissing his left and right cheeks, and they also firmly shook hands.
Before Ahok delivered a speech, he also asked for permission to the head of the United Development Party's (PPP) Jakarta branch. “I'm asking for permission, boss,” he said. Lulung merely smiled when he heard that.
Lulung was previously angry by Ahok's comment on the revision of Regulations on Regional Head Election. Ahok viewed regional heads elected by the Legislative Council (DPRD) is the death of democracy. Ahok also considered the Council to be extorting executives.
Lulung then went angry by Ahok's words, he threatened that he would report Ahok to the police because he had insulted the DPRD.
