TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Travel agencies that participated in Garuda Travel Fair (GATF) claimed there was a significant increase in the number of customers in weekends if compared with normal days.
The promo strategy that they offered has successfully attracted customers. For instance, Hartono, a tour leader from Aviatour said the number of visitors who purchased tour packages had boosted, especially during happy hour. The increase number of customers could be up to 70 percent more than normal days,” he said at the fair, Jakarta Convention Center, Saturday, September 13. In order to attract prospective buyers, Aviatour offered discounted prices and gifts, such as hats and umbrellas.
Their buyers generally looked for packages during the peak season, such as in June, July and December, and next year’s Eid al-Fitr holiday. The available discounted prices for one tour package vary. For instance, the tour package to South Korea could reach US$1,000, however, visitors could purchase with prices starting from US$439 at the fair.
