TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Democrat Party chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) reasserted that his party is not Merah Putih Coalition member as the party refused the offer to join the coalition.
“The Democrat Party was invited by both camps in different ways,” said SBY on Sunday.
He said in the next five years, political situation in the government and parliament will be tough and there politics will destructive. The Democratic Party wants no part in that situation.
“We have our own political principle and ethics,” said SBY.
He claimed that he had experiences with parties or groups that always consistently attacked and rejected the policies of his government for 10 years. This condition will be atrocious for Jokowi when facing the Merah Putih Coalition.
The Democrat Party has chosen to become a counterweight in the government and affirmed that they would support if Jokowi government sides with the people. However, the party will reject and oppose if Jokowi-JK enacts policies that afflict the people.
