TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Aviation Security Officer (Avsec) has arrested Heldy Rozadi, a Lion Air passenger, for carrying a firearm without documents.
The 51-year-old man was scheduled to fly to Padang from Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Lion Air plane flight number JT 356.
"We have arrested the man after Avsec officers detected an object that resembles a firearm in his suitcase," said Soekarno-Hatta Public Relations and Protocol Manager Yudis Tiawan earlier today.
The discovery of the firearm started when Heldy’s black Polo suitcase was checked in the x-ray security check point at 6p.m.
"When passing through the X-ray, the officer in charge saw an object that resembles firearms. When the officer was about to re-examine the suitcase, he continued to evade the inspection," Yudis said.
However, with a scanner, the object was clearly visible.
Officer Supervisor Avsec Nurmala Rina Dewi then directly asked the owner to open the suitcase. Inside the suitcase, the officer found a gun without documents.
The officer then detained and brought Heldy to Soekarno-Hatta airport police station.
"The investigation has been handed over to the police in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations," Yudis said.
