TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Democratic Party secretary general Patrice Rio Capella said on Thursday that human rights violations in Indonesia must be solved completely so that Indonesia can move forward. "After solving them all, we can open a new page," Rio said.
Human rights violations in Indonesia have never been solved. Some notable cases are Munir Said Thalib case on September 7, 2004, Tanjung Priok case on September 12, 1984 and Semanggi case on September 24, 1999.
Jokowi government is expected to solve these human rights violation cases since he promised in his vision and mission during the presidentlial election campaign that he would solve human rights violation cases.
Therefore, the country must completely solve human rights cases. "They must be solved one by one or group by group," Rio said.
Resolving human rights cases must also pay attention to others' human rights so that there will be no more human rights violation. "Don’t let it happen again," Rio added.
