TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter Scale shook Gorontalo on Tuesday, 10:46 local time.
“I was really surprised when the earthquake hit. The earthquake was pretty intense, although it didn’t last very long,” said Nayla, a student at Gorontalo State University on Tuesday.
Residents evacuated their homes after the quakes subsided to anticipate for falling rubbles from their damaged homes.
“The quake was pretty powerful this time. We don’t know where the epicenter was, but we can really feel it,” said Hanna, a resident of Gorontalo.
According to information received from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter of the 6.2 magnitude quake was located at a depth of 10 kilometers, 131 km southeast of Bolaang Mongondow Regency, Gorontalo Province.
To date, no tsunami warning has been issued, and no immediate damages, injuries, and/or casualties have been reported.
