TEMPO.CO, Karanganyar - The body of Supartini, one of the Indonesian citizens who perished in the Malaysia Airlines MH17 incident, was scheduled to arrive in Karanganyar, Central Java today. Her body was to be buried not long upon arrival.
Supartini was a resident of Sidorejo hamlet, Munggur village, Mojogedang district, Karanganyar, Central Java, and had lived in the Netherlands for the past three years. She worked in Den Haag as a maid and during her stay there, it was the first time she returned home when she boarded the ill-fated plane.
Purwanto, one of her next-of-kins said the family has received the confirmation of the returning of the body.
"An officer from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has come to us [to confirm the matter]," Purwanto said today.
A number of relatives were scheduled to pick up her body at Adi Sucipto airport, Solo. The body was to be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and one representative from Malaysia Airlines.
Previously, the family underwent the Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid (DNA) test several days after the MH17 plane was shot down in Ukraine. The test was needed for the body identification process. "Last week, we received the result of the identification," Purwanto said.
The MH-17’s Boeing was on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was shot in the sky as it flew over eastern Ukraine, killing 283 passengers and 15 crew on board, including 12 Indonesian citizens.
