TEMPO.CO, Gianyar - Gianyar Art Team Bali will take part to enliven the 2014 XXVI Art Festival of Yogyakarta in the area of Plaza Pasar Nasem tomorrow.

"Gianyar's Art Ambassador will present Ramayana Epic art show called "Kumbakarna Gugur" which is packed in four types of performances," Made Sidia from Sanggar Paripurna Gianyar said in a statement, Thursday.

Made said the four performances consist of pesanti, wayang kulit, wayang wong and Cak Bona with an hour duration.

The four performances are related and connected to one another starting with Pesantian that is telling the story of war between Rama and Rahwana. Then Wayang Kulit performance which tells about the meeting of Rama and Sugriwa, to arrange war strategies against Kumbakarna.

The story then connects throught the performance of Wayang Wong, who tells the dispute between Kumbakarna and Rahwana, before entering the battle field. The point of the story is that Kumbakarna is willing to go to war to defend his country that has been attacked, not to defend Rahwana.

Made Sidia added that the use of four art performances in one storyline is to introduce the various potential of art and culture in Bali and Gianyar specifically.

According to Sidia, the message of the performance is the knight and citizenship character of Kumbakarna who is willing to die for his land of birth, not to defend Rahwana who is greedy.

"The staging performance has been prepared since a month ago," Made Sidia said.

Regent of Gianyar, Anak Agung Gde Agung Bharata, had the chance to visit the team’s rehearsal held in Paripurna Studio.
