TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Telecommunications operator PT Telkomsel denied reports that its telecom tower in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, which was demolished on Tuesday, was because it was built on a densely populated area.
"We've checked into our data, the results showed that Telkomsel has no tower in that area," Denny Abidin, Telkomsel general manager of external communications, said in a written statement Tempo received on Wednesday, September 3.
He said the company Telkomsel always obeys the law in running its telecommunications businesses. "Our company upholds good corporate governance in conducting our work," he said.
On Tuesday, September 2, the Office of Building Control demolished a signal-transmitter tower that allegedly belonged to Telkomsel on Tuesday. The demolition was done because the tower was unlicensed, and was built on an area that is densely populated.
