TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Failing to score Radamel Falcao, Arsenal got their hands on Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck. The Gunners signed England International Welbeck for 16 million pounds.
Arsenal were in a head-to-head race with Tottenham Hotspur, also planning to sign Welbeck. In the end, United opted to sell the player to Arsenal, as the other Londoners planned only to loan the player.
Welbeck, once considered as Wayne Rooney’s successor, has scored 20 goals in 90 matches for United. Welbeck’s arrival in Arsenal has been a major relief for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has just lost his top striker Olivier Giroud for an injury. As for United, Welbeck’s leaving Old Trafford is a no-grief transfer, given that AS Monaco bomber Radamel Falcao has arrived to fill in the squad.
