TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Governor of Jakarta Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama claimed that he can rule Jakarta without a deputy. Ahok is set to ascend as governor of Jakarta, in light of Jokowi’s presidency on October 20.
"It does not matter. I [already] have four deputies. Jakarta is unlike any other regions," said Ahok. Ahok was referring to Housing Control Sector, Environmental and Spatial Planning Sector, Industry Sector, and Cultural and Tourism Sector when he mentioned the four deputies.
Moreover, Ahok claimed that he does not concern if a new governor is elected next year. "It is not a problem. [I] will follow what party officials want," said Ahok.
Previouisly, Deputy Head of Regional House Muhammad Taufik said that Deputy Governor is yet elected, as the councilmen now focus on discussing regulation and other electoral matters. "Do not yet discuss about deputy head. It is unethical as Ahok is still in his post," he said.
