TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Busyro Muqoddas, said that KPK will file an appeal against Atut Chosiyah Chasan. Recently, the Jakarta Corruption Court has sentenced Atut to four years of imprisonment, much lighter than the 10 years sentence demanded by KPK's prosecutor.
"It is worth [to be] appealed because [Atut's] case has stained democracy and the Constitutional Court," he said.
Atut was charged with four years of imprisonment, and Rp 200 million of fine or five months subsidiary for being guilty of bribing former Constitutional Court Chief Justice Akil Mochtar.
One of the judges who preside Atut's trial, stated that Atut was not guilty and should be released from all charges.
