TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost apartment owned by the Jakarta Sanitary Agency located in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, is reportedly still in poor condition.
To date, the apartment, which consists of two blocks, has not been occupied by officers of the Agency who have actually been prioritized to occupy the apartment.
"We are still collecting data on who are going to occupy the apartment," said Deputy Head of the Jakarta Sanitary Agency Isnawa Adji yesterday.
The apartment has 200 rooms and based on Tempo’s observation, it still looked quiet and there were not too many activities there. Several parts of the Block B were also still damaged.
Isnawa said the agency was still selecting officers of the Sanitary Agency eligible to occupy the apartment.
The apartment is not entirely proper to be occupied, Isnawa added. The apartment has not even had electricity and running water.
Usman, 35, a government worker who has been living there shared his experience of living in the apartment. He said the biggest problem in the apartment is the lack of water.
Usman must buy water for his daily needs which costs him Rp25,000 for the clean water for him and his family. "Because of the lack of clean water, many people don’t want to say here."
