TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Chairman of Democrat Party Max Sopacua said that Democrat’s opting to stick with Merah Putih Coalition is in accordance to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s stance. "The party cannot act separately. Democrat’s stance refers to that of Chairman and the Chief of Board," Max told Tempo.
The plenary meeting on Monday was a form of consolidating stance upon the upcoming Jokowi’s administration. "There is no new thing in making the call as the party is only reassuring its stance," said Max.
The three important calls are reassuring opposition stance, Merah Putih Coalition, and internal consolidation. The opposition stance, or balancing position, means that they support the new government if it continues SBY’s program. On the other hand, it will criticize the Jokowi's shall he run programs that is against public interest.
"The point of this coalition is not merely to join force, but also the fact that we have similar ideology and discourse for national development. Therefore, we will fight alongside Merah Putih Coalition," Max said.
