TEMPO.CO, Borno – Boko Haram has released footage of caliphate declaration on Sunday, followed by waves of attacks in the following days. Al Jazeera reported on Tuesday that Boko Haram fighters moved to Ashigashya on Monday evening, killing three people in front of a church.
President Goodluck Jonathan has announced emergency state in three northeastern states since May following the schoolgirl abduction incident. He said that Boko Haram fighters had seized Borno State, where the militia was first formed.
Recently, Boko Haram claimed to have gained control over Gwoza. Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau then declared the group as Islamic State, similar to that of Abu Bakar Al-Baghdadi’s movement in Syria and Iraq.
