TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 106 members of Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) period of 2014-2019 inaugurated on Monday. From that number, 46 out of them were incumbent DPRD member period of 2009-2014 and the rest 60 others are new members, as reported by Antara News.
Jakarta City Council Secretary Mangara Pardede disclosed the inauguration of 106 DPRD members was in accordance with the Decree of the Home Ministty No. 161.31/-3343/2014. The plenary meeting will be led by Head of Jakarta DPRD, Ferrial Sofyan and oath-taking by Head of Jakarta High Court.
"The Home Minister Gamawan Fauzi is not present. Thus his speech of plenary meeting will be represented by Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo," he expressed.
After the inauguration, there would be an appointment for the temporary of Head and Vice Head of DPRD. Its tenure is valid until official Head of four Vice Heads of DPRD period of 2014-2019 are appointed.
He explained the number of DPRD members of 2014-2019 is quite many compared to previous period which was 94 people. "Based on Law No. 27/2009 on MPR, DPR, DPD, DPRD (MD3), the number of Jakarta DPRD members is maximum 125 percent than the maximum number of Jakarta residents," he described.
In the 2014 legislative election, five parties were the top five for the Jakarta electoral district is Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Gerindra, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), United Development Party (PPP), and Democrat Party. Thereby, the head post will be served by the PDI-P, while the four representatives from Gerindra, PKS, PPP, and Democrat parties.
