TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Provincial Government is urged to be more serious in arranging the Old Town (Kota Tua) area, West Jakarta. One of the ways to do it is by drafting spatial plan on the historical area.
“The spatial planning is yet to be implemented clearly on how to enliven and arrange the area of Kota Tua, which is the gem of Jakarta,” stated Chairman of Nusantara Arts Forum (FPBN), Hendardji Soepandji, after the opening of Nusantara Culture Arts Festival at Kota Tua, Friday, as quoted by Antara News.
According to Soepandji, at this time, the Jakarta Provincial Government only regulates buildings and streets of Kota Tua. As for the residents and street vendors there, they have not been placed in a special area. As the result, Kota Tua area is seen to be managed poorly.
“It’s not like we are against the street vendors. This is a really nice area, so it should be really clean,” he uttered.
Even so, Soepandji also assessed that the Kota Tua management is not solely the responsibility of the Jakarta Provincial Government, but also the central government and citizens as well.
While regarding the Nusantara Culture Arts Festival, the event will be held until Sunday.
