TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama has received extra security beginning Thursday, August 21, 2014 from the prior three to six bodyguards.
Ahok said he was ignorant of the increased security escorts for him and that the number of bodyguards assigned to him was still the same as that of the routine security detail.
“The security guards just checked in today to kill time,” he said at the City Hall on Friday, August 22, 2014.
Ahok said he did not request nor require additional bodyguards. “I did not ask for them.”
Security measures around the City Hall were beefed up yesterday as the Constitutional Court (MK) announced its verdict on the electoral dispute case.
A total of 427 joint personnel from the police and military were seen guarding the Jakarta administration headquarters.
