TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Titi Anggraini, an election expert of the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem), said the losing Prabowo-Hatta presidential ticket’s legal attempts to overturn the presidential election results announced by the General Elections Commission (KPU) had ended as the Constitutional Court read its ruling on Thursday, August 21, 2014.
“There is no other legal step if the MK has announced its verdict,” she said in a discussion in Central Jakarta on Friday, August 22, 2014. “So it’s [the MK ruling] final and there is no other legal loophole [for the Prabowo-Hatta ticket],” she said.
Titi said any other legal action that the defeated ticket planned on taking would end in vain and that the best option for the pair was to throw their weight behind the Jokowi-JK administration's political agendas.
“Political elites have said that all political agendas ceased because of the MK ruling,” she said. “Well, they did not. In fact, the elites have to support the existing ones,” she said.
