TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo has urged Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa supporters gathering around the Constitutional Court (MK) building not to damage public parks.

“Don’t damage the parks,” said Jokowi at City Hall on Thursday.

Vandalism on parks has occurred in front of the General Elections Commission (KPU) building on Jl. Imam Bonjol, Central Jakarta in May 2014, when supporters of both presidential tickes were tramping the parks in front of the building where both candidates registered themselves. Grass and plants in the park were damaged as many supporters packed the street.

Jokowi has declined to comment on possible rioting in light of the announcement of the MK ruling on the disputed election result today. He said Jakartans must trust the police with the security during the MK hearing. "Trust the police," he said.
