MK Rejects Prabowo-Hatta's Lawsuit

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Constitutional Court (MK) has decided to reject the lawsuit filed by Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa presidential pair against the recent presidential election result. The decision was read by Chief of MK Hamdan Zoelva earlier tonight, Thursday, August 21, 2014.

MK stated that most of the arguments made by Prabowo-Hatta’s team of legal attorneys on several issues cannot be proven and were made without strong legal basis. Legal considerations related to these arguments were read by Constitutional Judge Aswanto.

For example, Aswanto stated that one of the arguments made by Prabowo-Hatta legal team related to the misappropriation of the Additional Special Voters List (DPKTb) is lacking in necessary evidence. In addition, there was no proof that the DPKTb was forged to provide advantage for the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla pair.

MK has been holding trials on the presidential election dispute since August 6, 2014, and has rendered a decision on Thursday, August 21, 2014.
