TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Chief of National Intelligence Agency AM Hendropriyono ignored the protests from the human rights activists questioning his appointment as an advisor in Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo’s transitional team.
"It is not surprising [for being rejected]. But Indonesia is a constitutional law. Let’s prove it in court," Hendropriyono said at the Jokowi-Kalla Transitional Team office earlier today.
A number of human rights activists protested Hendropriyno’s appointment as an adviser in the transitional team. The Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KONTRAS) alleged that Hendropriyono was involved in human rights violation cases related to Talangsari Tragedy in Lampung and Munir assassination. They billed Jokowi’s promise to investigate human rights violation cases.
Hendropriyono said he would serve as an adviser in the transitional team and did not consider himself as a policy maker crafted by the team.
"My job as an adviser is to provide inputs related to military and intelligence affairs. Whether Jokowi would use them or not, it would be up to him," Hendropriyono said.
