Seven Prabowo Supporters Injured in Clash

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Seven supporters of  the losing Prabowo-Hatta ticket have been injured and rushed to hospital durig a clash ahead of the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling on the presidential election case.

“Seven people are injured and will be taken to Tarakan Hospital,” Busmin Wiriwawan, a member of the Prabowo-Hatta’s advocacy team told Tempo on Thursday, August 21, 2014, adding that one of the supporters had been arrested for allegedly being a provocateur.

The seven supporters were injured during in a clash between protesters and policemen at 02.33 p.m. Officers sprayed water cannon and lobbed tear gas to protesters, causing them to disperse and take off to Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jl. M.H. Thamrin and Jl. Budi Kemuliaan. It was reported that Prabowo’s supporters were brawling against the police.

Currently, thousands of officers have returned to their posts to secure the area.
