TEMPO.CO, Moscow – Russia has announced that it will bolster its navy with more advanced weaponry in response to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)'s plot to stop the Russian pressure against Ukraine.
Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu confirmed the proposal, citing that the Russian force need to be equipped with modern weaponry. Mr. Shoigu also said they needed to improve the navy’s operations in strategic locations.
Previously, NATO and the United States have improved air defense in the former Soviet nation in response to Russian military movement. The two deemed Russian President Vladimir Putin as a threat on the rise.
Earlier in June, US President Barack Obama revealed a US$1 billion plan for Eastern Europe during his visit to Poland. The budget aimed at helping the ex-Soviet nation to build a more modern army.
