TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President-elect Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo said there were two parties, previously supporting Prabowo-Hatta, that are currently approaching his side. "I speak the way it is. The National Mandate Party (PAN) and Democrat Party [are likely to join the coalition]," Jokowi said. "It is still in progress. We hope it would be realized soon."
The two parties will certainly bolster their position in the parliament. The string stance in the parliament "will impact on our programs. However, it is still in progress. Do not yet draw any conclusions," said Jokowi.
As for the scenario of securing the parliament by appointing the Head of House of Representatives (DPR) from the National Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Jokowi leaves the mechanism to the party.
Moreover, Head of Central Leadership Board of PAN Bima Arya Sugiarto said they had maintained informal communication with PDI-P cadres. However, there is no official talk on the Head of House election. "We will wait for the Constitutional Court (MK) Verdict," he said.
In Democrat, Deputy Chairman Max Sopacua stated that the communication between Democrat cadres and PDI-P cadres is well-maintained. However, the Democrat is not likely to get on the same vision with PDI-P in terms of the Head of the House. Sopacua said the troubled relationship between PDI-P Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri and Democrat Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has become a difficult issue.
