TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As people grows more profound of the internet, internet giant Google is planning to launch a child-friendly online service.
Reports said that Google is working on a new web-service for children that will also provide a parental dashboard for parents to control their children's online activities.
In addition, Google also prepared to create a child-version of YouTube, in which users will have to cite their age upon signing in their Google Account. The service applies to all Google-based features, including those accessed from smartphones.
The breakthrough came in esponse to the emergence of online privacy act in the United States. The act requires a specific age limitation for an individual to be able to access online data, especially those below 13-years old. The problem with the act is that children nowadays are smart enough to breach such limitation by faking their age or using their parents' account.
