TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After the alleged sexual abuse that occurred in the Jakarta International School (JIS), the school returned to open new classes on Monday in the new school year period of 2014-2015.
The Trustee Foundation of JIS, Dino Vega, said that on the new school year, JIS is accepting 2,500 new students. They consist of the old and new students of the new school year period. “Our capacity are almost full,” Dino said in JIS Terogong Campus on Monday.
According to Dino, the cases that are faced by JIS is not affecting new student admissions. “Parents still trust us,” he said. From a total of 2,500 students in this new school year, 85 percent are foreign citizens and the rest are Indonesian citizens. Foreign students came from 70 countries.
Dino added, JIS Kindergarten has already been operating due to an uncomplete permit. JIS Kindergarten has accepted new students with several terms. Among them is JIS does not except students from Early Childhood I and Early Childhood II. “Early Kindergarten I does not accept students while Early Childhood II only accepts students continuing from EC I,” Dino said.
