TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Andre Rosiade, the coordinator of the the General Elections Commission Savior Alliance (APP), said supporters from the losing Prabowo-Hatta presidential ticket would continue to stage their protest in front of the Constitutional Court (MK) building on Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat.
Despite the MK’s not holding any trial on the case of the disputed presidential election results until Thursday, August 21, 2014, Andre said some 3,000 supporters of the Prabowo-Hatta camp would still stage a protest.
“Most of them are the same people joining yesterday’s protest,” Andre told Tempo on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Andre added the protests would resume until Friday, August 22, 2014. “We demand the MK be fair in making its ruling. At least it has to announce that there will be re-elections at 46,000 polling stations (TPS).
The Jakarta Police’s patrol and escort (Patwal) department, Adj. Sr. Comr. Slamet Widodo, said the police would not dispatch additional personnel to safeguard the protest in front of the MK building. Earlier, a total of 2,452 joint personnel were mobilized to secure the building.
