TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) personnel once again cracked down street vendors in the area of National Monument (Monas) park on Thursday, as reported by Antara News.
The raid is conducted because street vendors recklessly set up stalls and trade in such place which is a favorite recreational site in Jakarta. Unlike the previous raid, the personnel only evict them.
Head of Operational Section for Centrall Jakarta Satpol PP, Maruli Sijabat disclosed that raid against street vendors today is still conducted persuasively. Personnel only did blocking and evict them forcibly. "Our target is evicting vendors from Monas," he stressed, Thursday.
During the raid, as many as 70 joint personnel of Satpol PP, Garnisun, and police deployed to the field. "If the vendors refuse to leave, we had to seize their wares," he expressed.
This time, his side is still giving tolerance to those vendors. However, on Saturday, the raid will be done repressively. "On Saturday, we will deploy 100 personnel in five municipalities," he asserted.
