TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Eid al-Fitr holiday is utilized by Jakartans to visit recreational sites, including Marunda Beach at RW 07, Marunda Urban Village, Cilincing Sub-District, North Jakarta. Unfortunately, the beach is not equipped with adequate facilities, Antara News reported.
For information, since 2003 the Marunda Beach has been proposed to be arranged and equipped with adequate facilities. But until now, the condition of the beach which planned to be included in 12 tourism destinations in North Jakarta is still poor.
Among its poor facilities are the two entrance pathways, which are also residential streets for RT 03/07 residents, and another entrance of bamboo bridge at RT 06/07. As for toilets, bathrooms, and kid’s playground, these facilities are not available.
“Too bad the beach is dirty. There is no improvement since long ago. Even going to the toilet is troublesome,” lamented Kote, one of Marunda Beach visitors, Friday.
Head of North Jakarta Tourism Sub-Department, Grace Mandagi, admitted that her department is not handling the beach.
“We don’t allocate budget nor repair the beach’s facility. We also haven’t understand yet the continuation of this public beach would be like,” she uttered.
