TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Awakening Party (PKB) has reiterated that the authority to appoint the ministers lies in the hands of president-elect Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo. PKB Chairman Marwan Ja'far said his party would not argue about the ministerial positions for parties endorsing the election winner.
"We leave the decision to the president-elect [Jokowi]," Marwan said today, as a response to Tempo's article mentioning that the PKB has reminded Jokowi about the ministerial posts for parties.
In the article, Marwan said Jokowi’s administration success would depend on supports from political parties at the executive and legislative boards.
"Jokowi must accommodate supports given by political parties," Warwan told Tempo, Thursday.
If Jokowi cannot gain supports from political parties, Marwan predicted his administration would not run optimally. Jokowi needs support from political parties to pass bills and plan state budgets to the House of Representatives (DPR).
"Such matters can only be resolved by political parties," said Marwan, who is also a member of Transportation Commission at the DPR.
