TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Researcher at the National Survey Institute (LSN), Ikhsan Rosidi, admitted that his institute had made an error in its quick count suggesting Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa as the winner of the presidential election.
“We have to admit that we made an error in conducting the quick count,” Ikhsan told Tempo on Thursday, July 31, 2014.
According to Ikhsan, the LSN had agreed that the recapitulation results from the General Election Commission would be the final one. On July 22, 2014, the KPU named Joko “Jokowi” Widodo-Jusuf “JK” Kalla as the winner of the presidential election with 53.15 percent of votes, leading Prabowo-Hatta with 46.85 percent.
Meanwhile, the LSN quick count results suggested that Prabowo-Hatta gained 50.56 percent of votes. The pollster also released that Jokowi-JK gained 49.94 percent of votes.
The LSN, Ikhsan said, would not file a protest to the KPU and was willing to admit its mistakes. However, Ikhsan could yet confirm in which part of the quick count contains the error.
