TEMPO.CO, JakartaFire ravaged a house and some parts of State Elementary School (SDN) 05 building on Jalan Masjid An-Nur, RT 06/10, Grogol Utara Urban Village, Kebayoran Lama Sub-District, South Jakarta, Wednesday, around 1 PM. There is no casualty reported in this incident which causes loss nearly Rp150 million, as reported by Antara News.

“The incident happened at around 1 PM when I saw smoke from the roof of Mr. Hendrik’s house. Shortly after, fire was seen. The locals then warned the house owner as well as residents whose house near the location to evacuate and save their belongings. We also had tried to extinguish the fire, but it enlarged instead,” said Jaka, a local.

Within moments, fire burned the back of the house which located right behind the school. Fire also had spread a little to the school building. Luckily, firemen from South Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department arrived fast at the scene and immediately localized the fire to prevent it from spreading to other buildings.

“We deployed four fire trucks. The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes and not spreading to other buildings. The fire was allegedly caused by electrical short-circuit. There is no casualty, while the loss is predicted around Rp150 million,” stated Head of South Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department Operational Section, Edi Sucipto.

Meanwhile, the house owner and family members cannot be interviewed yet because they are still in shock. At this time, police line has been installed around the location. Kebayoran Lama Sector Police are investigating this fire case.
