TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After the announcement of president and vice president-elect by the General Elections Commission (KPU), Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo-Jusuf 'JK' Kalla supporting volunteer organizations have been actively nominating ministerial candidates for the next government. They call it the "People’s choices for an alternative Cabinet".
Several names to fill ministerial positions in Jokowi-JK cabinet are given to the public to decide and choose freely. Jimly Asshiddiqie, chairman of the Election Organizers Ethics Council, said this choosing of cabinet members should have not been applied yet. "The people must respect the ongoing legal process. Fourty percent of the public is disappointed and fighting in the Constitutional Court (MK)," he told Tempo yesterday.
Constitutional law expert Refly Harun said Prabowo camp’s lawsuit on the election result could still annul or delay Jokowi’s victory. The people’s enthusiasm in deciding candidates for ministers is a little problematic. "Ethically, it’s a little problematic, but we can’t forbid them from expressing their aspiration."
Jokowi and JK’s positions as president and vice president are not fully secured yet because Prabowo-Hatta filed a lawsuit to the MK after the KPU announced that Jokowi-JK won the presidential election.
Prabowo-Hatta suspected electoral frauds in 52,000 polling stations that comprise of 21 million votes. The dispute trial will start on August 6, 2014.
