TEMPO.CO, Madrid - Atletico Madrid's new striker Mario Mandzukic refused to be compared to Diego Costa. Mandzukic said he and Costa both have different playing style.
Mandzukic, who joined Atletico in a 15-million Euro transfer fee earlier this month, is projected to fill up the space left by the departure of Diego Costa, who left for Chelsea for 40 million Euro. Costa had been the key man in Los Rojiblancos during the recent seasons. Now that the burden seems to weigh on Mandzukic, the Croatian striker claimed he was not Diego Costa.
"Diego is Diego Costa. I'm Mandzukic. Everyone has their own way," Football Espana quoted the former Bayern Munich forward as saying.
Mandzukic's achievements are equally bright to Costa. During his two seasons with FC Hollywood, Mandzukic succeeded in presenting two Bundesliga 1 trophies, two DFB Pokal, one Germany Super Cup, one Champions League cup, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
"I’ll follow the instructions of my new Coach. I’m very happy to be at Atletico. I know the players and I’m convinced they are great players. I’m especially pleased by the Coach," said Mandzukic.
