TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian ambassador to Russia and the Republic of Belarus, Djauhari Oratmangun, viewed that Russia had big influences on the world economic, despite the country being in the middle of a crisis. "So, Indonesia could be more aggressive to approach Russia," he said at the Indonesian Stock Exchange yesterday.
The trading transactions between Indonesia and Russia have merely reached USD3.24 billion, Djauhari added. When in fact, at the same period, trading transactions between Singapore and Malaysia with Russia are close to ten times, which is USD 30 billion per year.
Djauhari said Russia had started to give more of their attention to Indonesia in the first quarter of 2014 with the total capital of Rp112 trillion. The country's favorite sectors are infrastructure, mineral and technology. The infrastructure and mineral sectors are President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's leading programs, which were often mentioned during his campaign. "Hopefully the future relationship between Russia and Indonesia would be further improved."
