TEMPO.CO, Kiev - The Russian Embassy in Indonesia informed Tempo on Thursday, July 24, 2014, that there are four journalists that have been kidnapped by the Ukrainian military.

Two of those journalists work for Russian media. Graham Phillips is British freelance journalist working for Russia Today while the other one, a cameraman, works for Anna-News.

The Huffington Post on Thursday reported that Anton Skiba, a CNN freelance journalist was kidnapped by pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine on July 22.

Anton was abducted outside his hotel in Donetsk one day after covering the MH17 crash site. CNN said that they chose not to report the incident when it first occurred due to safety measures.

CNN network in Ukraine has taken various measures to free Anton, who was accused of terrorism and of posting cash rewards for the killing of separatist fighters on his Facebook page.

Anton was able to call CNN on Wednesday and said he was being questioned at the Donetsk security service headquarters. No further contact was made since then.

The Committee to Protect Journalists, Reporters Without Borders and the United Nations Commission for Human Rights, have called for an immediate release of Anton Skiba.

The Russian Embassy in Jakarta has asked Ukrainian officials to free the Russian Today journalist and Anna-News cameraman.
