TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice president-elect Jusuf Kalla has dismissed rumors that the Jokowi-Kalla administration would auction off ministerial seats, saying ministerial candidates should also be judged based on their track records.
Kalla said a minister was similar to a CEO or a top executive at a company who cannot be contested. “We have to look for them because we have to see their detailed track records,” said Kalla on Thursday.
According to Kalla, selecting ministers is different from position auction, in which detailed track records were not among the essential factors to weigh. He added that ministerial positions must filled by professionals.
Kalla asserted the cabinet formation would be handled by a special team, which, within the next three months, would examine and canvass the problems encountered by the present government.
By doing so, Kalla said, the next government would have identified and was prepared to face the problems without having difficulties adapting to them. “We want this cabinet to have people who are suited for the jobs.”
