TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo has released beef market operation vehicles to ten markets in the capital city. "This market operation aims at maintaining price level and the number of meat supplies ahead of Eid," said Jokowi today.

PD Pasar Jaya managing director Djangga Lubis said local beef from Bali was sold in carcasses with market price of Rp60,000-Rp85,000 per kg. Around 20 tons of beef will be distributed to 10 markets in Jakarta. PD Pasar Jaya will hold this operation today until Saturday.

The beef comes from herbal cattle that only consumes grass. "This beef is free from hormones and growth promoter drugs," he said.

According to Djangga, most market operations are held in East Jakarta in Perumnas Klender Market, Kramatjati Market, Jatinegara Market, Klender SS Market, Kayu Jati Market, Sunan Giri Market and Rawa Bening Market. In Central Jakarta and South Jakarta, market operations will be held in Palmerah Market and Cipulir Market as well as in West Tomang Market in West Jakarta.

Djangga claimed food supplies in Jakarta are still secure until Eid arrives. PD Pasar Jaya has also started monitoring supplies of other food in markets. "There may be market operations of other goods," said Djangga.
