TEMPO.CO, Donetsk - Malaysia said that they will keep hold of the black boxes and data recorders from the downed Malaysia Airlines flight MH17. The black boxes will be handed over to an international team as part of an investigation on the cause of the incident, which killed 298 people.

"The Malaysian team has taken custody of the black boxes, which appear to be in good condition. They will be held securely in Malaysian custody while the international investigation team is being formalized," Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said in a statement.

Pro-Russian rebels finally handed over the black boxes to the Malaysian team. "At that time, we will pass the black boxes to the international investigation team for further analysis," Najib added.

The black boxes were previously presumed to be brought to Moscow. However, pro-Russia rebel leader Aleksander Borodai decided to hand them over to Colonel Mohamed Sakri of the Malaysian National Security Council.

Russian ambassador for Malaysia Lyudmila Vorobyeva, said that the rebels do not trust the Ukraine government, which is why the black boxes were not handed over to Kiev. Vorobyeva said yesterday that the area is a war zone and that the international community should be more flexible in making the right decisions.
