TEMPO.CO, Manchester - Louis van Gaal will be allowed to break transfer records, signing new players to Manchester United, according to the club's executive vice chairman Ed Woodward. So far, the Red Devils was reported to spent 50 million Poundsterling under Van Gaal's leadership to recruit Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera.
The Spanish La Liga, which is known as the big spender in terms of recruiting new players, held the world record for the most expensive transfer as Real Madrid signed Gareth Bale in 2013. As for the Premier League, the transfer record belongs to Chelsea when the club recruited Fernando Torres from Liverpool for 50 million Poundsterling back in 2011.
ESPN reported that Van Gaal has expressed his interest in signing Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund, following the departure of three United's veteran defenders. Other rumors also associate Gaal with several Dutch players, namely Daley Blind, Stefan de Vrij, and Kevin Strootman.
