TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Pejagan-Pemalang toll road project in Central Java has started to be constructed on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. The 57,5-km toll road is a part of the Trans-Java toll road network.
"Development planning of this toll brings us closer to the realization of the Trans-Java toll road network as a logistic route that will boost national economic growth," said Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto on Wednesday.
Djoko said that the toll development is one of the solution to reduce the amount of traffic along the northern coastline (Pantura), which has become the main route for private vehicles and logistics line along the Java Island that reaches its highest amount of traffic during Lebaran homecoming.
The toll road consists of four sections that stretch through Brebes, Tegal and Pemalang in Central Java. The toll construction will use rigid pavement with four lanes in its initial phase and six lanes for the final phase. Total investment for the project reaches up to Rp 4,08 trillion.
The first section, which is 14.2 km long, connects Pejagan and West Brebes while section two, which is 6 km long will connect West and East Brebes. These two sections are targeted to be completed in 2015. Land acquisition for the first section has reached 96.31 percent while for the second section 95.75 percent of the needed land has been acquired.
Land procurement for the 10.4-km long section three that connects East Brebes and East Tegal, and the 26.9-km long section four that connects Tegal Timur and Pemalang, will be carried out according to the schedule.
