TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has forbidden civil servants (PNS) or state apparatus from receiving parcel or food packages during Eid holiday, Christmas and New Year. Accepting gift or gratification can be penalized.
"There is a penal charge. Therefore, civil servants or state apparatus must deny gratification," said KPK Chief Abraham Samad, adding that the penal charge is as regulated in Law No. 20/2001 on Corruption Eradication. Any form of gratification must be reported to KPK within 30 days of receiving it.
"Parcel or food package that expires easily must instead be delivered to orphanages, foster homes, and other parties that need it the most. A report on price assessment and documentation should also be filed to the institution, before forwarding it to KPK," Abraham uttered.
KPK has also suggested ministries, institutions, regional organizations, and state-owned enterprises to publish an open letter to disseminate the matter. "Celebrating [Eid] should not be overrated. Civil servants and state apparatus should be able to give good example to the society," said Abraham.
