TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Rupiah is facing a major turnout following Prabowo Subianto's statement on rejecting the result of the presidential election. The increasing political tension has driven investors to give up their Rupiah denominated assets.
At 15:30 Western Indonesia Time, Rupiah dropped by 91.5 points (0.79 percent) to Rp 11,607.5 per US Dollar. The downfall negates the increasing trend that had occurred earlier today as Rupiah strengthen by 55.7 points (0.48 percent) to Rp 11,516.3 per US Dollar.
Analyst at Bank Mandiri Reny Eka Puti, said that Rupiah's performance in the money market will depend on the situation following the presidential election. Anything event that may occur will affect investors' expectation and concern.
