TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa campaign team head Mahfud Md said he is no longer involved in campaigning for Prabowo-Hatta after the General Elections Commission (KPU) announces presidential result which is scheduled this afternoon.
“I’m part of the campaign team. My job is only until KPU’s announcement. When the KPU announces the result tomorrow, my job also ends tomorrow. Legal team will continue after that,” he told Tempo on Monday.
Mahfud asserted he would not be involved further in legal process if the Prabowo-Hatta’s Merah Putih Coalition protested and contested the result to the Constitutional Court (MK) because he was part of the MK in the past. “I separate myself from matter of law. I don’t want to be accused of intervention,” he said.
Mahfud refused to comment when asked about the difficulty of proving in the MK later because of the five-percent difference. “It’s up to the judges and the legal team. I don’t have any idea and I don’t want to picture anything,” he said.
Previously, Saldi Isra, constitutional law expert from Andalas University, said it is had for Prabowo-Hatta to bring election dispute to the MK because the five-percent difference means proving electoral fraud of around eight million votes.
