TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Researchers from Alabama University in the United States discovered that increased intake on fruit and vegetable has no effect on weight loss.
Researchers concluded it after performing sistematic review and data analysis of more than 1,200 random subjects to know the effects of increased consumption of fruits and vegetables.
Lead researcher, Kathryn Kaiser Ph.D, an instructor in Public Health School of the University of Alabama, said that all studies that have been examined showed “a near zero effect on weight loss.”
“Just adding them on top of whatever foods a person may be eating is not likely to cause weight change," Kathryn told the Daily News.
The Department of Agriculture recommends that adults eat a daily serving of 1.5 to 2 cups of fruit, and 2 to 3 cups of vegetables, but individuals looking to shed weight have been advised to increase this amount.
Fruits and vegetables provide lots of vitamins and fiber, so eventhough they cannot reduce weight both are good for your health and will not cause problems when consumed, except in extreme amount.
